Alum

Alum is a mineral curio long used in the south for mundane as well as spiritual purposes. Alum is used to stop gossip and wagging tongues. It has a very intense puckering effect if placed on the tongue. It can be used mixed into a bath to help take off the evil eye or a run of bad luck. It is also considered a protective curio for both house and person.
